All I know is that excercising this waiver/authorization requires the advance set-up by the corporate travel department before arrival at the airport. In this "case" I believe corporate travel has been contracted out to Carlson Travel, and they act as authorized agents to do whatever advance work is required by the company and airline to execute this policy.
When flying on these types of deals, I've never noticed any comments or questions by check-in agents. So perhaps by the time it gets to them, everything looks fairly normal and set up on their screens in such a way that "no questions are asked."
