Well, you MIGHT have and argument if there is no mention of what the cancel penalty is when you made the booking.

No disrespect, but the only way I would take your side was if you were to re-produce the exact wording of the penalty when you are about to make the booking.

Absent that, as well as your refusal to make the name of the hotel known, I cannot credit your account because Marriott's website often is accurate, and it is likely that the cancel penalty was spelled out to you in $$$$.
