Wow....did not expect this when I first asked the question. It appears DL200 will not leave SJU until this afternoon. Since my wife and I have booked DL200 for later this year, I have followed it when have time on flightaware and have wondered about things such as a medical emergency as the flight is so long in flight and above water for such a long period.
Wonder if the flight delay is due to crew rest, although there are two full crews on board?
Speaking in general about that route, there have been some diversions to SJU after maintenance or other delays out of JNB because the crew was going to time out. This is considered a better alternative to get it that far vs. it not leaving JNB in the first place. I'm not aware of two full crews on board, in previous instances the airline flew a new crew to SJU to bring it home to ATL.
