When I heard someone from Hyatt explain this benefit it seemed that "Guest of Honor" reservations get a special flag for the benefits, but are distinguished (and distinguishable) from Diamond guests. It is possible I misheard or misinterpreted what was said and with Hyatt's IT one never quite knows what happens, but it sounded like the intent was to keep Diamonds separate from "Guests of Honor." So that may help with upgrades. Obviously, it won't help with the breakfast benefit.

Also, hotels that actually offer nice breakfasts will be pushed towards cost saving tactics ie limiting breakfast. Premium wifi is nice. Couldn't care less about the United passes.
