Despite what the seat maps may show - even very close to flight date - the F cabin often ends up heavily loaded. This happened to me on three very different sectors over the last few weeks, where the maps in each case showed lots of space in F, but then on the day itself the cabin ended up full. But I was perfectly happy with the service provided nonetheless.

Even in F there can of course be variations in the quality of on-board service (depending on the crew) where catering is concerned. Whilst I would put a recent experience very much in the FirstWorldProblems category, it is nonetheless an example of how some crew members like to go the extra mile, as it were : I have a particular fondness for green grapes and requested some towards the end of two long sectors, a few days apart. In the first case, the crew member (might have actually been the Purser, IIRC) went to the trouble of 'collecting' the few grapes from each unused (pre-prepared) fruit platter to create a good-sized single portion of said grapes. (she may have actually got some of them from J class, I can't be sure, and obviously it didn't matter). Then on my next flight, same request .......but this time the FA said (albeit very courteously) "I'm not sure that we have much in the way of green grapes, but I can gladly bring you a fruit platter which I think will include some..." I just accepted her response (no big deal, in truth !) but when the 'platter' arrived it contained maybe 4 or five grapes, and at the time I wasn't that interested in the other fruit that filled the rest of the plate.
I ask for grapes too (albeit colour does not matter to me)!

Sometimes I just order to cheese plate to get more. I have asked for just grapes and been denied on a few occasions. No biggie - just order the cheese with no cheese!
