You can book MAN-HKG-PNH as one ticket, although I think I struggled to book the KA flight between HKG-PNH online so had to call. I did that flight in Y and it was fine, not sure I would personally spend the extra avios for a J seat on the short flight.
I think the MAN-HKG flight arrives too late in the morning to do a same day connection to PNH, the PNH fligh leaves around 0800 I think. In that case as you will have an overnight connection in HKG a single ticket is not as crucial.
