Manage My Booking' tab on ac.com and pull up your itinerary. Since this is a Star Alliance award, you will not be able to change seats online and will need to call in. I actually just did this today as well for an A3 award.
The AC agent will be able to assign you 'regular' seats but will not be able to move you to a Preferred Seat, paid or otherwise. According to the Agent I spoke with today, this is simply not possible and she did check with a Supervisor. I find this interesting since with Aeroplan awards you can move to a Preferred Seat for cost, or otherwise and the change can be done online or by calling in.
If you figure out a way to pre-book the Preferred Seat, let me know.
yeah, at first once I got through the agent said I could upgrade to a preferred seat for 40$ a ticket a person..this is LAX to YUL, YUL to SFO, so fine, but then when she got into it, it wouldn't let her. After talking with a supervisor, still no go, not possible..if you BUY A flex fare, we can do it, but not on a MM *Gold Award..Flex.
So, I'm just going to cancel and figure something else out, sitting in the back with between 31'33" for 5.5-6.25 hours is just not going to work for my 6'5" frame.
***update**** couple calls to the call center, no go.
