Thanks for all the help so far. I took a look at united, and while that was suitable for me, my wife was less than thrilled with the 2 stops and minimum 20hr trip each way (taking into account travel with a 15 month old).
Is the only way with one stop CLT -> LHR -> LCA via BA? Paying a bit of money for the surcharges is OK if it cuts out 5+hours of travel time each way.
