What I do is add that high speed to my iPad ONLY that way I'm not using up paid MB's when I need specific apps I use on my iPad, I keep my phone on free 128KB so to not eat into MB use for simple emails, social media low bandwidth stuff, etc.

One thing I've been doing lately with the T-Mobile free 128Kb for my phone is I paid the $9 for Boingo on a smartphone; MANY places I drop into have Boingo roaming support and worst case I at least fall back to free T-Mobile data.
