Same thing on UA. Although a delay of any sort will help; just missing it due to taking too long to make it between planes when everything is on schedule probably won't work.

You can request a refund, IIRC for the full value of the ticket (in which case you won't get any miles for SEA-SFO-SEA), or just for the unused portion (and you keep the flown miles). Been a while since I've done so, though, so my experience may be out of date.

I was going off of what Expert Flyer says for UA at SFO, but I see they list both 50 minutes and 30 minutes for UA domestic-to-domestic.
