Has anyone EVER asked for early boarding? I understand people want to be onboard BEFORE other people, but I haven't heard anyone say they'd like to spend more time sitting in the plane on the ground.
Alaska seems dead-set on getting us to a world where boarding starts a full 60 minutes prior to pushback. More and more lately when I show up at 30 minutes prior, boarding has finished. For my 7AM departure out of EWR this week, I arrived at T-35 to find the boarding gate was empty and the GA claiming last call.
I don't understand who or how this helps. It just makes us all sit on the plane longer. I've had baggage delays. I've had weather delays. I've sat through several mechanical delays. But I've never been delayed because pax took too long to board.
