Well, mathematically speaking, giving 50% off each base fare is equivalent to giving 100% off one base fare (i.e. one free base fare), so it should be the same result regardless, no?

Yeah, that seems like a "minor" issue of their not changing the surcharge upon the discount being applied. It'd be less of an issue if they were to advertise it as a flat surcharge, rather than telling us the percentage

Given that you authorised the payment of the amount quoted at the time of booking, did you check your cc account to see how much you were actually charged? Perhaps the invoice does state wrong (higher) amounts for whatever reason. If indeed they overcharged you, rather than emailing them, you should send them a registered mail letter (snail mail) after you've confirmed your calculations, and ask for a refund of the 2.88 Euro!
It hasn't posted yet, but I do plan to follow up with them when it does if it doesn't end up being what it should be. I'm pretty certain this isn't malicious on their part, so they'll probably make it right. You make a good point in that I'll have to consider the cost of this vs. the cost of my time at some point though
Also, they overcharged a total of 14.43 over the two bookings when factoring in the incorrect credit card surcharges. I was on a budget!
