That was exactly my thinking.

I assume you are referring to the style on the left. Whether you feel it's pretentious or not, it's a standard uniform for UA flight attendants.

No, this particular F/A was a male so he certainly wasn't wearing a skirt. It could be similar to the guy on the right, but he wasn't wearing the sweater. The shirt was your typical pilot's shirt with the pockets and the epaulets, only he was showing two stripes instead of three or four typically worn by real pilots.

(I realize some airlines give two stripes to relief first officers on international flights, but this was a relatively short domestic flight and he was very definitely doing the cabin service)
