Checking other topics in this forum, looks like you can get tickets to other places from Phoenix for cheap on NW... in case you get tired of Des Moines, you could go Des Moines to Phoneix, Phoenix to Miami, then Miami to Phoenix to Des Moines. Play around with the mileage to make sure it works our for you.
