OP: Simply do what I stated in post #3. You'll be fine. Also, many airports (including DTW) I am sure would be willing to give your 5 year old a mini tour of the airport. Also contact DL, they may allow your child a chance to visit a plane between flts and perhaps meed some ground staff, a FA and Pilot. I have heard of DL and UA doing this many times at airports all around the USA including LAX and LAS (first had experience at both). Simply ask. ^
