That's what I do as well. There still is some direct, but a faire amount of indirect as well. And on holiday, with Mrs BBA she achieves Silver on the back of it. She flies several times a year on her own, so benefits then from lounge access, seat selection etc. But these are not pure TP runs - we wanted to go to Malaysia, and QR got us 560 TPs for it, and cheaper than direct.

Judging from your flightdiary link, I do fewer flights, but more miles. So I don't have to do a TP run, but then I only have BA status - you seem to have several others as well.
