I can understand your not trying for a fix on the spot given the timing issues. You got in the first night at Midnight, facing an 8 AM meeting. For me, that would have meant waking up at 6:30. Personally, I may not have even noticed the no water until the next morning. No heat I would have noticed, but that night the options would have been to, A) Call the FD, wait while they woke up someone to come to the room and hopefully fix it, or B) just snuggle up under the covers as best you can. Given that you were looking at 6 hours sleep max, I can see deciding to go with option B for the first night.
That said, I definitely would have called the FD in the morning and told them about both problems, while asking if there was anywhere else I could take a shower and get ready that morning. That way, they could hopefully unlock a room with working water, or give you access to the gym, or something. It would also have given the hotel all day to fix the issues with the room. I probably would also have re-packed my bags for a quick move, or even let the hotel staff move my bags during the day while I was out. Since you got in at midnight the night before, I'm assuming you didn't unpack all that much, right?
Did you let the FD know that there was an issue with the room at all?
