You havn't give us any dates... so we really can't offer any
specifically helpful suggestions.
However, your problem appears to be that you don't have a SAT. nite in SAN. (And the EWR-SAN cheapos are very demanding in this regard).
Therefore, you might try re-arranging things to outwit the unforgiving EWR-SAN fares:
Tuck a FLL-SAN RT inside a EWR-FLL RT! (Neither of these markets require the SAT. nite stay that the EWR-SAN fares do).
Therefore, your routing will look something like this: EWR-FLL-SAN (same day), then SAN-FLL (layover), then FLL-EWR (another day).
I'm assuming that you really don't need the LAS stopover...
I priced out a trip with imaginary dates and the fare came to $456.
Only problem is that Q and T inventory on CO is very limited... and they might not be available on the dates that you have in mind.
Again, check for Q's and T's.
