I traveled on the SIN-SYD service in WTP recently, which is an redeye with 7h flight time, so more or less comparable to a TATL.
So, one could expect a quite quick service to maximise your sleep.
But, it was the normal service pattern with drinks first and then the full meal service. The service itself finished after 3 hours in flight and it took a further 30mins until the cabin lights were dimmed. Needless to say, they started distributing breakfast (a single muffin...) 1:30 before landing. if you're light sleeper there's a maximum of 2hrs of sleep you can get.
It's quite exhausting and definitely needs to be improved.
I prefer the normal service, much like I prefer a cooler cabin because people can ignore the service and sleep or wear more clothes / or blankets and we are all happy. Or we can make YOU happy. BA like the lowest denominator and soon there will be no service so one person can sleep.
