Good morning my optimistic and energetic readers
Today, I’m going to share with you my Oman Air business class experience from Kuwait – Kuala Lumpur which took place last year in January. Although this flight took place one year ago, rest assured that to my knowledge some Oman Air fleet of A330 still maintain the 1 – 2 – 1 business cabin configuration. Although this trip took place 1 year ago, I will do my best to remember as much details as possible on that flight.
I decided to experience Oman Air for the first time in my life since they had a special promotion on their business class fares (believe it or not, their business class fares were as cheap as Srilankan business class if not even cheaper.) Using this opportunity to my advantage I decided to fly Oman Air to experience their famous business class cabin.
Flight: WY 648
Route: KWI - MCT
Date: 27 January, 2014
Departure: 20:55
Seat: 01B
Aircraft: B737
After checking in the business class counter and clearing immigration, I was invited to sit in the pearl lounge while waiting for my flight to get ready. As you can see from the pictures, the lounge was not crowded at that time. Kindly note that I have visited this lounge prior to the recent renovations which took place last year as well.
I don’t recall priority boarding taking place for my flight to MCT. The business class was full back then, and I had to transit in MCT for 9 hours to my next flight to KUL.

The flight was comfortable for this 2 hours trip. After landing in MCT I decided to relax in the lounge since 9 hours in transit was too much! To my surprise, the transfer counter in MCT decided to give me a complimentary hotel night to relax while waiting for my next flight to KUL. Of course, I had other passengers to join me since they also had a long transit time.

In the morning I was anxious to try the business class lounge, which unfortunately, turned out a bit of a disappointment for me. Although the lounge is for the exclusive use of Oman Air premium passengers, I did not feel it to be that luxurious compared to Gulf Air falcon lounge in Bahrain. Anyways I had only 2 hours to spare to explore the lounge.
Flight: WY 823
Route: MCT - KUL
Date: 28 January, 2014
Departure: 09:25
Seat: 11A
Aircraft: A330
This time we had priority boarding, as business class passengers had their own exclusive bus to taxi them to the aircraft. Immediately after boarding I was just amazed by how luxurious and exclusive the cabin looked like. I have never seen such cabin in my life back then.
Views of the tarmac from the bus:
Welcome aboard:
My seat is 11A:
An amenity kit, hot towel, headphones, and menu distributed upon sitting in my seat:
The amenity kit consisted of lip-stick, facial mist, body lotion, ear plugs, toothbrush, socks, and eye shades.
Generous amount of windows (if I remember correctly, they were 3 windows per seat
In-flight service after take off (sorry I can’t remember the exact name of the menu, but it was super good!)
I had a chat with the cabin crew. One of them was of Iranian nationality. I asked her about the load of the business class cabin, and whether or not it’s usually this empty. She told me that during school holidays the business class easily gets filled, but since I was travelling in January the cabin was empty. She also told me they split the cabin into two parts: one for the families (with kids) and one for people who don’t want to sit with kids in their cabin (talk about flexibility and win-win situation.) In addition to that the cabin crew was friendly with me
Nap time after the meal (extremely comfortable 180 degrees bed.) I don’t feel like closing my window blinds…..
No trip report is complete without an engine view:
After the main course by few housr I was given Mahlabiya as sweets, which was tasty:
No overhead compartments in the middle seat:
The seats are so comfortable that passengers can fall asleep even with my window blinds open.
One final meal with hot towel prior to landing (again very delicious)
Approaching Kuala Lumpur during sunset:
We touched down in the evening, and this was one of my best flights in my life. I definitely would consider flying Oman Air again if they keep having promotions and maintain their 1 – 2 – 1 configuration. I stayed in Kuala Lumpur for two nights only, and now its time to fly back home.
Flight: WY 822
Route: KUL - MCT
Date: 30 January, 2014
Departure: 14:10
Seat: 12K
Aircraft: A330
I was invited to the MAS golden lounge, which in my opinion is the finest lounge in Kuala Lumpur International Airport. See the pictures and tell me whether you agree with me or not.

A library inside the lounge to relax or access the business center:
After exploring the lounge and having had a good time and meals there I decided to go to the aircraft since it was time for boarding. I can not remember whether or not there was priority boarding.
This is how the first class cabin looks like. A total of 6 first class chairs onboard.
While I can’t say for certain, I believe that the screen was a just a little big bigger than the seats in business class:
I would love to sit in that chair some day……
Now headed to my seat which was in the business class cabin:
We took off smoothly so I decided to take some photos of the in-flight entertainment since I didn’t do it on my first flight. First of all a picture of the engine then the in-flight entertainment photos will pop up.
This is the main menu for the in-flight entertainment:

Comfortable smooth flight:

Our journey ends here:
I had less than 2 hours transit in MCT for my flight back home.
Conclusion:
This was my first time flying Oman Air, and I wasn’t expecting much from my flight since the airline is not well-recognized like Emirates and Qatar Airways. I had a very pleasant and comfortable experience onboard all my flights with Oman Air. The movies in the in-flight entertainment were very recent (back in 2014,) and I was pleased that I can watch the movies which I missed watching in the cinema onboard the flight. For the price I paid, the value definitely exceeded the cost, and I would happily consider flying Oman Air again in the future when they have promotions.
I hope they maintain their 1 - 2 - 1 business class configuration and not switch them to the 2-2-2 configuration.
