Just completed a one night stay here (quick 23hr layover) on points. I wanted to use Cash & Points so I could get a stay credit, but it was not available on this day. The rate for one night in dollars was too much for me to justify on a "semi" MR.

I arrived into Chiangi at 6:30am, and took the airport shuttle ($S9) to the Grand Hyatt hoping (but not expecting) that they had a room available and would let me check in early.

Yahoo! They let me check in early and upgraded me to the Grand Deluxe room in the front tower.

Rooms are clean and spacious, but feel a bit dated furniture wise. I suppose they are meant to look hip and retro, but they just feel old fashioned to me!

But, given that I was in my room by 7:45 after an exhausting MR flight EWR-IAH-HNL-HND-SIN, I was happy.

Paid a quick visit to the Club lounge for breakfast, and fell into bed at 9:00am and slept like a baby until 3pm!

Took a shower - could not get the water to be anything more than lukewarm at best - and then meandered around for a while.

Visited the lounge for cocktails/snacks. While it is a nice lounge, and the snacks were good, I think there are better lounges. GH Erawan, IMHO, is much nicer.

Regardless, this is a solid hotel. I experienced good service from each staff member I interacted with; they were all polite and helpful.

I also like the location on Scotts Rd; far enough away from the noise or Orchard, but close enough to walk there in a few minutes.
