Shouldn't someone help AA customer service understand the issue?

Still at http://www.aa.com/i18n/travelInforma...main-cabin.jsp :

In the Main Cabin on all domestic and some international flights, we offer a choice of hearty sandwiches and fresh salads on board.

Fresh and light meals (9:46 a.m. - 8 p.m. on flights over 3 hours)
<sigh> I guess it's me.

So, I wrote this:

Dear M___________,

Thanks for your response. But, are you sure you are responding to the right person?

Apparently no one in Y on my flight (AA 2318 from LGA to MIA on 30 Dec'14) was offered a "meal for sale," even though the scheduled flight time is 3h23m. I just wanted to know, why not?

I did not make a "request for an adjustment."

The "meals for sale" advertised by AA on its web site and on board materials are not "complimentary conveniences;" they are services (and goods) offered for sale in Y on flights longer than 3 hours, similar to checked bags and lounge access. The service (or not) of meals in first class is not relevant to this issue.

Does AA ever offer meals for sale in Y on AA 2318 from LGA to MIA? Will it take another 29 days to answer that question? Thanks.

This, time, I got a response in just 18 hours!

Dear M___________:

Thank you for contacting us. We're sorry for you disappointment regarding meal service when you traveled with us recently.

The flight that you were scheduled on is not a flight that offers meal service. As of right now, it is not slated to be either currently or in the near future. However, We're sorry you were unaware of this. When we made plans to introduce the inflight food for purchase option, we designed procedures to notify customers well in advance of implementation via electronic mailings and media press releases. However, we did not have the resources available to personally notify every customer impacted by this change in service. Again, we apologize for the associated inconvenience.

Our goal with the new inflight food service program is about providing our customers with the option to purchase freshly prepared items (on Hawaii and transcontinental flights) or quality snacks (on shorter domestic flights), at a reasonable price to "tide them over" during their travels -- if they so choose. While we do routinely offer food for purchase on most U.S. and Canadian flights that are three hours or longer and depart from 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., due to competitive and customer demand considerations, on some flights three hours or longer we don't offer this service.

Again, however, Mr. ________, we are sorry that you expected food on your flight but none was offered. At the same time, we appreciate your feedback about food availability on this particular flight and we've shared this information with our Managing Director of Food and Beverage Service. We welcome our customers' impressions about all aspects pertaining to our services and products. We are working hard to make your overall travel experiences with American Airlines the best that they can be. Thank you for traveling with us -- please continue to do so.

Sincerely,

<etc.>
Yet another strange response.

This has nothing to do with the initial "implementation" of the meals for sale option, so those comments are irrelevant. I was not "inconvenienced" by that change, from a few years back IIRC.

So, are the meals for sale only offered on "most" domestic flights longer than 3 hours? That's less than what is indicated on the web site. Are they offered on some 3h+ flights that depart between 8 pm and 9 pm? That's more than what is indicated on the web site.

I feel like they might put me on the no-fly list if I write again though.
