Why do so many people believe Hertz doesn't have to pay the credit card fees and any payment from them should be considered "goodwill?"

Hertz is responsible for the unauthorized credit card transaction, therefore Hertz is responsible for making sure their f...up doesn't cost you a single penny. Hertz has to pay what they erroneously charged and all the costs of getting that money back to you. Not a penny less than that.
