If the club fares were astronomical then yes I'd question it. But in many cases it's only a few hundred more than an economy ticket so long as you aren't doing fully flexible tickets, but on those you aren't paying for the bed on those fares you are paying largely for the flexibility to support your changing plans. To some organisations and in a small number of cases individuals, the price of flexibility is worth paying for.
