True, but if the OP is a BAEC member then there are MORE TPs and Avios with BA than with QR.

For example:
On my DOH-BAH flight with BA I get 25 TPs and a bunch of Avios because of bonuses associated with Silver (ie 500 + 125 + 500). But on a similar flight with QR (DOH-DXB) I get 10 TPs and 75 Avios.

I'll bet the same will happen to the OP if flying QR instead of BA. Maybe a new plane is better than the old 747. However, I fly a LOT on QR shorthauls (777 and 787) and when I fly LH on a BA 747 I do enjoy the "smoothness" of the big old bird. Just my bias I suppose. But for me, new is not always better.
