The official line of BArea is that they neither encourage nor discourage the CC selling on the platform, they are happy to keep a significant chunk of the ad revenue for providing the infrastructure. That line is toed pretty consistently, athough it seems the owner(s) can put in a good word with Amex if someone looses his/her affiliate links.

Bloggers per se are not required to keep within any ethical guidelines. Its part of their charm vs news media that they write whatever comes to mind and put it out there quick, without a decent fact or spell check. That way a lot of things that would fall thru the cracks in a traditional newsroom still sees the light.

Don't underestimate the readers though. If there is nothing of interest, they will read another outlet pretty quickly.
