Note that at the SFO Marriott - the new M Club Lounge is now open 24x7 with breakfast 7 days a week (hors d'oeuvres 5 x a week). So SFO no longer gives the 1,000 points (you had to flight to get it anyway).
Seems the concept is to move the CL to the lobby level and make it a hang out lounge. Beer/wine only served for purchase 5x a week. But at least there is full breakfast 7x. The location is what used to be part of the restaurant and is next to the kitchen.
Same for San Fran Marquis hotel in downtown SFO. But it does look that Marriott is moving away from the CL concept of a lounge on an upper floor.
If Marriott closes the CL they will be in an uncompetitive situation. Maybe they figure they are too big now - buying up half the hotels in the world.
