For Asia, AA's issue is the configuration of their planes are too premium heavy. if the 788s go transatlantic, what would make sense would be the US A332s going transpacific, particularly LAX. fewer J seats, strong J product (similar to 77w and better than ngbc), lower cost than 772 to operate.

GRU, EZE, GIG and SCL should stick with 777s/763 as the long overnight is a waste of the 788s fuel efficiency.
Suffice to say; when you read what the 2 new routes are, you'll see that AA feels almost 100% polar opposite of your thinking/theorizing- it's almost uncanny
