Thanks...and interesting that they are allowed to talk to locals in their own language. I had always thought it wasn't allowed for the reasons pointed out about foreign pilots maybe missing something.
In France it is the law that ATC and pilots of 'F' registered airframes must converse in French tongue. Elsewhere there is a mix of local and English.

paul4040, if you go on a 737 simulator some time try Innsbruck 08 visual approach or the Madeira 05 visual approach (I know the second isn't a BA destination). I was doing Madeira last night with a friend and we had/needed several goes - it is very tricky.
FNC comes to LGW in May.
