I got this reply from Delta:

Delta Hello Mark, thanks for reaching out. If you participate in the promotion and fly six RTs, you will receive Gold Medallion status through January 31, 2016.

At the end of the 2015 Medallion year (Jan 31. 2016), if you have 35K MQMs, your 2016 Status (effective Feb 1, 2016) will be Silver Medallion (assuming you have enough MQDs for Silver). You would have 10K MQMs toward earning your 2017 Status. Thaks. -
