From a Travel Industry point of view... An agent willing to ignore MCT is one I wouldn't be giving a penny to. In the (admittedly) unlikely scenario that it does go wrong, you could have issues. The other point being, BA has systems in place to bounce back below MCT bookings for the agent to correct.
