When you arrive in MXP, or any intl. destination from the US, you are herded through customs and immigration no matter what. You are completely sectioned off from the waiting area.

Think of a good answer to give the immigration officer when he/she asks what the purpose of your trip is, and how long you intend on staying. You might raise suspicions if you tell the truth, thereby delaying your departure.
