So this loyal AA flyer in NYC is wondering how to get some of this action. Did I miss the boat? Where are things at today with stopovers and routing, days of travel, etc.?

I have one free weekend in December (around the 8-9) and can swing a couple of days on either side. I'm looking for a pretty pure run though (with max one night in SIN).

A friendly shout to the UA experts out there.

Thanks

The cheapest fare right now from NYC-SIN (approx $640) requires a 3 night stay. If you can only do it over a weekend, then you're looking at high $700s for early December. There have in the past been fares with no minimum stay from NYC for about $660.

Some other points:
- SIN is an ideal run destination on UA as you arrive around midnight, hang out in the airport for a few hours, and catch the morning flight out again at around 7am. Many posts on this board re transit hotel vs. comfy seats in the airport.

- Highly recommend getting UA to comp you to 1P (based on your AA PLT). This gets you E+ seating and access to *A lounges including UA's NRT lounge with showers etc. plus mileage bonus etc.

- If booking on ual.com beware of JFK-SIN direct routing. This will net you less mileage than for multiple segments even though you still have to change planes, etc. I personally go with a multi-city itinerary as follows: JFK/EWR-SFO-NRT-SIN to force multiple segments. This nets a little over 22,000 base miles. Note you could also use ORD or LAX for an interim segment for more miles.
