I was on a YYZ-DTW-SEA-HKG flights on Friday/Saturday. My DTW-SEA flight was delayed by an hour, which turned my 1:05 connection into a 5 minute connection at SEA. I am only in Hong Kong for 36 hours, so the agent realized that and found an alternative DTW-PVG on Delta and PVG-HKG on China Eastern (MU), which got me into HKG about two hours later. I was very thankful that she did that for me, although I did ask if I could fly outside Skyteam and she said that if they can find availability that I could do that. She had to call someone at central reservation to redo my booking. What was great was that I went from a very full flight to one that was about half filled. I wish I had thought to ask her if there were availability on CX, but I think that the DL/MU option was really the only one that would get me in with a reasonable delay.

The only complaint is that my luggage didn't make it and it's now stuck in airport limbo (no one seems to know where the bag is), but hopefully it will be located and I'll get it back soon.
