Go with the later flight which tends then to be lighter loads and hope...
To be honest, I can understand how it happens. The flight starts at 2305, If I was a a crewmember I would have made the most of the day in HKG. I don't know how long the crew rest time for HKG is but starting a 12 hour flight at 23:05 will always go beyond me. I'd rather the cathay at 1505 and arriving at LHR at 20:10.
