I have a friend who takes the route a lot. She says it's almost always full in all cabins on both the A380 & the B773.
As far as what aircraft to go for, I haven't been in either but if you look at timings. The A380 is the first aircraft to land at LHR in the morning so it's the first at immigration but the B773 often catches up and is only 5 minutes behind so pax's have to wait for the A380 pax's to clear.
I couldn't have put it better myself, indeed.....
The A380 SHOULD be the better experience but even in FIRST it sometimes is an odd experience and poor service..why this route??
Go with the later flight which tends then to be lighter loads and hope...
