When Does Delta Rebook on Another Carrier
I was in EWR Friday, and my inbound flight was diverted to JFK due to wind. I was flying to YYZ, and it was the last flight that could have got me to a connection to get home that night (and before anyone asks why I was on DL flying EWR to YYZ, it was the last leg of a multi city trip). DL was going route me to ATL, and fly me home from there on Saturday AM. I really did not want to spend another night away from home, so I booked a direct flight on Air Canada at 9:00 PM and got home.
All good, but I had checked a bag that they had to pull, and while I was waiting for it, chatted with another person waiting for his bag off the same diverted flight. They had put him on a United flight direct to FLL. I asked, and this person had no status. It made me wonder why they had done that for him, and not me. Not that I really cared as it was dealt with and the AC flight was about the same price as the refund, but it made me wonder when they would rebook someone on another airline.
