This is my normal route and it can be anywhere from 1-3 hours. As said, if you can leave the airport by 3:00pm, it will be much quicker.

Best advise (as already given) is to have something nice to listen to (my go to is radio 98.1 KISS which is Disco, somehow it passes the time and I guess my singing/yelling alleviates the stress of sitting in traffic).

If traffic is really bad, I also have been know to pull off in Mill Valley and stop at In N Out for a burger and a lemonade, while some of the traffic subsides. Then at least I am not hungry when I get home.
