There's always a lot of debate around drinks that aren't so much bad as they are polarizing. Sure, every drink in the world must have at least a few people who are fans, else how did the recipe get distributed? But some have a pretty strong following even if most people find the taste off-putting. Laphroaig is one of those. Personally I dislike it as I find the burning taste to evoke the idea of drinking kerosene. But I recognize that plenty of people do enjoy it, so I'll never state an opinion like, "OMG. Laphroaig is the Worst. Scotch. Ever." Instead I reflect some awareness of the world outside my own head by telling people who ask me about it, "Laphroaig has a very strong peat flavor. A lot of people, myself included, don't like it for that reason, but I know several people who swear by it."
