Not the best price but the least headaches. I am US gold and just booked ALB-PHL-LAX-PHL-ALB for $200 with taxes. The good part is that at time of booking I am confirmed in F outbound and almost assured of being in F on the return. The base rate of $178 has a 3 day advance purchase and 1 night stay. this is good on most transcons. As a Gold member you can check ITN 3 days before travel, pick the flight with the availability in F and get an instant upgrade outbound. You only have to wait a day to confirm the return. If you book it late in the day, 3 days before departure, you can confirn F both ways in less than 1 hour (ie book at 11pm). If they let me go over 9 segments for the AMEX 3x miles promo I will be very happy. Too bad the 767 was booked. I figure we will never see times like this again so I went for it.
