Why am I ashamed?

I am ashamed because this week is the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and we must always remember that Adolf Hitler and those who surrounded him were evil, heartless and ruthless. To pretend otherwise flies in the face of all the Allies did, and all the lives that were lost.

“We do not want our past to be our children’s future.”

I am also mindful of the fact that Jewish people living in Great Britain (and Europe) are becoming ever more frightened of a rising tide of anti-Semitism and I don't want to say or do anything to offend those I consider friends and neighbours.

As long as no harm is intended, let's take it in good humour.
