Kamadan You don't have to worry about that, NZ is (AFAIK/have been flying with them) not known to do op-ups, in fact I would say never.
That's okay, I'm used to flying on SQ, and they have the same policy, so did not really expect NZ to be in a generous mood...
Having said that. It's your honeymoon, I would say pay for PE outright and stretch your budget a little.
Here's the problem: Having booked the damn thing on Orbitz, their shaft-your-customer excuse of a policy states that you cannot get (even partial) cash refunds on the fare, but that they will be turned into "credit" towards future travel. And now for the best part: This credit
cannot be used for international travel!!
Of course, I fully admit that I (probably) knew all of that when I booked the ticket, but still...
Then again, having looked at other options for booking the same set of flights again, it does appear that $2.1k per person for the four legs including the Skycouch on the long leg does not appear to have been such a bad price after all, especially considering all flight ought to earn 100% mileage.
So we might simply have to bite the bullet and snuggle up - which, considering that I am 5'10 and she 5'6 and both of us are fairly slender, should perhaps not end up as bad as I feared...
