Just to be clear:

*For CX 889 passengers continuing to HKG from JFK: All passengers regardless of class must remain onboard. Takes about an hour or so to clean the aircraft, re-cater, refuel and board passengers from YVR that are continuing to HKG. And yes, you remain onboard while of all the mentioned activities above happen.

*For CX 888 passengers continuing to JFK from HKG: All passengers regardless of class will proceed to a "sterile" room. You will be given a transit card and you're bags will be checked by Canadian authorities to comply with the US TSA requirements. (I know, I hate it too. ). There is free Wi-Fi in that sterile room, restrooms and bottled water always on offer by the counter so help yourself. Once again, it will take about an hour or so before you board. When boarding, just surrender your transit card and off you go.
