The corporate code I usually use (legitimately) didn't seem to do anything, but I didn't pursue it too far. I still have a number of months to plan this.

Corporate structure (including BOD constitution requirements), insurance issues, vehicle financing, registration and taxation issues all came up when trying to change things and keep things rather seamless for consumers. Given what I heard, it's not just company ownership structure and corporate accounting that has resulted in maintenance of fragmentation along national lines.
Interesting perspective - sounds like this won't be getting smoothed over anytime soon!
