Last year when I flew back from Frankfurt to Pearson T1, I just went to one of the Nexus lane/kiosk, scan my eyes and walked out. Although I didn't get asked to see my passport, I did have it with me. I just don't trust the bureaucracy enough to be comfortable leaving it at home.
