Marketing 101 - a customer loyalty scheme is designed by business to retain customers and increase share of their spend (wallet.)
When people write on this board of 'loyalty', it is in that context, not in the context of being prepared to lay down their life through loyalty to their sovereign.
Therefore people are using exactly the right word.
