I think it's totally doable.
If you do two ORD-SINs, you're set.
There is also a special reward sale going on between January-February 2002. You can get a short-haul flight for 12000 miles instead of 15000 miles.

If the ORD-SIN indeed does go on past Dec 2001. Your total costs would be the 24000 miles + 2090 (2*1045) to get 35000 miles.
