If you have an onward ticket I am sure you will be ok. Emirates have the capability to check with BA in Dubai if there are doubts that the onward ticket is genuine.

As far as the bag is concerned your husband will be able to check it in. It's his bag, his allowance and there is no need for you to be there. If the question is asked then you can say exactly what has happened.
