I do agree that staying airside is the way to go.
You only outside for a few feet between the bus and the terminal building at either end of the transfer. I must admit I thought that this would be ok for the OP. Both solutions are described. I can only add that the train transfer is very time consuming due to there being no direct tube or HEX between the two. I really would not recommend the landside option.
Just as a data point I am not aware of any cases of hypothermia occuring as a result of the airside transfer and the few moments spent outside during it
