I'm going to take the liberty of putting this info in the Wiki, as it seems to get asked every other page.

Q: How does Target code for my credit card?
For Amex almost no Targets code as grocery stores. Instead they code as discount superstores. By and large, Targets code as grocery stores for Visa's. See here to check. Mastercards sometimes follow Visa's lead, but it's more trial and error with them.
I looked up my local Target and visa codes is as supermarket. However, it won't qualify for the Chase Freedom quarterly bonus as the term of Chase specifically said that Target won't qualify (and my transaction showed no bonus points). Any other card can potentially take advantage of this?
